Magnetic vs. Ferrous. What is the difference?

I'm sure you've heard of and seen magnetic paint, magnetic wallpaper, magnetic walls, and the like. A common misconception is that these materials have magnetic properties. Meaning, they attract magnets and metal and can damage cellphones and emit a magnetic field that is harmful to human beings. This is incorrect. These materials are in fact ferrous, of or containing iron, the key ingredient that is attracted to magnets. They are inherently harmless and no different than interacting with common steel objects.

We like to distinguish this difference by calling our product ferrous when it is intended to be added to paints or wallpaper in order to attract magnets to its surface. The only thing magnetic here is the magnet itself ;)
